BÄRO actively supports refugees and integration. As a partner of the "Wir zusammen" ("Together") nationwide integration initiative of German industry, BÄRO has a role model function and encourages business involvement in helping refugees with pioneering projects. Together with the charity KIDsmiling, since 2012 BÄRO has supported children from refugee families with specific sport programmes. Furthermore, BÄRO offers refugees internships and training to help qualify them for the job market.

The charity KIDsmiling was founded in September 2003 in Cologne by Dr Sandra von Möller, managing director of BÄRO, as a private initiative. KIDsmiling aims to promote socially disadvantaged children and young people in particular and to give them better prospects for the future.
