For decades already, UV-C technology has been used for the disinfection of air, water and surfaces. A wavelength of 253.7 nm eliminates all bacteria and viruses tested to date.
According to the official declaration of the IUVA, SARS viruses can also be inactivated with UV-C light. UV-C is an important addition to the so-called "multiple barrier" approach. Together with the existing disinfection processes, UV-C technology ensures that the risk of infection is reduced to a minimum.
Invisible relevance.
The air in air conditioning and ventilation systems is the ideal transport medium for viruses and microorganisms such as bacteria, mould spores, yeasts, algae and protozoa. Even state-of-the-art filter technology is unable to prevent the contamination of air conditioning systems on a lasting basis.
On the contrary – filters themselves can be breeding grounds for germs. Nothing stops the air contaminated with germs from being transferred to the individual areas of the building via the air conditioning and ventilation systems. Laboratory results are influenced, employees or patients are subjected to unnecessary risks. This can lead to anything from people feeling unwell to becoming ill. Even in areas or individual rooms without a supply of incoming air surfaces and air can be contaminated with bacteria or viruses, putting people at risk.
Reduce the risk of employee absenteeism.
In administrative areas where large numbers of people are present the risk of employee absenteeism increases between 12% and 18%, depending on the type, size and conditions of the working environment.* In buildings with areas heavily frequented by the public both the surfaces and the air are contaminated with viruses and bacteria – leading to individuals becoming ill.
UV-C air disinfection systems can reduce many complaints, for example respiratory diseases by 40%, mucous membrane problems by 30% and muscular pains by 50%. This was demonstrated in a study** carried out by the University of Montreal (Canada) in 2003.

Mobile or firmly mounted.
AirCom is available as a mobile or a firmly mounted individual element and it is ideal for use in small rooms. What's more, the additional configuration with a TIOX filter (TiO2 photocatalyst) reduces odours. At the same time the purified air is enriched with oxygen.

Retrofitable or new installation.
The AirStream variants can be integrated into existing or new ventilation systems or the stand-alone AirStream C air-conditioning module can be used for effective air disinfection of rooms without a ventilation system.
