Europa-Park is located in the foothills of the Black Forest, in Rust in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Balthasar Castle with its popular castle restaurant is situated in the middle of Germany‘s largest leisure park, surrounded by expansive parkland. During the daytime Europa-Park offers visitors freshly prepared Baden-Alsatian specialities, in the evening the castle with its medieval ambience can be booked for private parties and company events and on certain dates an „Alemannic mediaeval banquet“ is held.Alexander Graß, the responsible planner in the construction department at Europa-Park, explains: „In the castle restaurant many hours are spent cooking for the guests every day. As there are conference rooms and living quarters on the upper floor of the castle and an adjoining residential area just 100 metres away it was important to us to ensure that the residents and neighbours, but also visitors to the park, are not bothered by offensive smells.“
